Let’s get serious! … Really?
On December 16 will be our last 08:23 in 2014!
Following our tradition we will therefore have a special meeting: We will plan for 2015 in terms of creating an inventory of upcoming conferences and have a nice ‘Christmas fika’ together, this time – German style.
And there is another tradition that we do not want to break, there is also something short to read for an inspiring discussion. So, to be honest, how seriously do we take ourselves in our scientific field? Manz (2014) has some thoughts on it.

As academics, we do work that is both serious and significant. Yet, being too serious can interfere with our performance and enjoyment of the knowledge creation and dissemination work we do as researchers and educators. In this essay, I call for some reflection on the value of not being too serious. I offer some stories and simple prescriptions in the spirit of pursuing career and life balance, personal effectiveness, and, just as importantly, fun as a not-too-serious academic scholar.
